Antique Walk

I like to look at antiques, although normally I don't buy anything; I'm just looking for the perfect item.

I have all of my old Barbie dolls except for one, Midge. She was the bestfriend of Barbie back in the sixties. She disappeared mysteriously from my Barbie box one day long ago, leaving behind her boyfriend, Alan and her bestfriend.

I finally found her and now, she is happily reunited with her many friends of the past.

Do you remember these dolls?
From left to right is:
Twiggy, the skinny model, from the sixties.
Mary Poppins. I don't have her original nanny outfit but I do have the one she wore on her outings to the park.
Skipper, Barbie's younger sister.
Barbie! She's missing her swimsuit but is wearing a design that my Mother made.
I forget the little girl's name!
There is Midge of course and Alan.
Ricky is a friend of Skipper. I always thought of him as Alan's little brother.

They are complete, once more.

That's so cool you've got the whole collection. Skipper was always my favorite. I'd forgotten about Midge & don't even remember Alan. But, I was more of a tomboy anyways. Amazing that your mom actually sewed barbie clothes. She must have been quite a seamstress.

oh, how cute! What a happy reunion! I love dolls too! I have all my Barbies as well but I came from the time of Office Barbie, Barbie and the Rockers and Pretty and Pink Barbie...sigh...very 80's but they have their place too!

My mom would always make us Barbie clothes for Christmas and birthdays. I hope I can pass that on to our kids too!

Hi Raehan,
Nice to see you out and about.

Howdy Jane,
Alan was underappreciated!
Yes, my Mom sewed a lot of our doll clothes.

Hello Emily,
I am very unfamiliar with the Barbie's of the 80's; my daughters started playing with Barbie's in the 90's.

Thanks Nobody Girl!

It's great that you still have kept them all. I don't have mine anymore.

No I can't say I remember any other than Barbie and Ken. I wish I had all the baseball cards I threw away as a young lad! Nice collection!!

I had a lot of dolls and loved that my grandmother made their doll clothes, but I don't recall their names...just Barbie. I think I called them all...Barbie.
Weird, now that I think of it.

Isn't the little girl one Scooter?

Rachel said...

or is it really Tutti and Todd.

Carol said...

Friday's Child,
Yep, I carried them around with me for quite a few years.

Thanks Pat,
I'm sure you do. Some of those cards are worth a mint.
My collection is pretty well for sentimental reasons.

Kathy,
Lol

Rachel,
I always thought her name was Tutti, too because there is an outfit amongst her other clothes that bears that name. I looked Tutti up on the internet and it wasn't her but I do have her as well but gave her to my first daughter.
She's not Skooter either.
(I thought of you when I was writing all the decades for this post, 70's, 80's etc. Yikes)

Barbie, Casey, Franci, Stacey, Skipper, Tuti, Chris! That rhyme is stuck in my head. Is it a list of Barbies from a TV ad in the early 70s?

I had a Skipper doll, jusr her, no others. Seems the girls today have many more Barbie dolls than I remember people having.

Carol said...

Mompoet,
I haven't heard of that before. Sounds like a Barbie rap!

Barbara,
Yeah, instead of changing outfits they change dolls!

Somehow an almost complete set of "90210" dolls found their way into my household. I'm unclear how they got there.

Carol said...

Stephen,
That is funny and you've got me curious, too.

Cute dolls! I know Twiggy but I haven't been alive long enough to know most of them! Keep up the great work! (Check out my blog, everyone!)

Art Puppy 94,
Do you have any Barbies? They wouldn't be collectibles yet, that is for sure!

Carol said...

AP94,
That is an interesting item to collect.

Ah, what memories. The only doll similar to that I had was an Annette Funicello doll....I loved that doll...

Hi ACP,
Annette Funicello!
I hope you find her again.
