Reading the Paper...

"Don't you read the paper?" A friend was appalled by my lack of knowledge about current affairs.

"Yeah, I do."

"What, the comics?"

"Well..."

So today, I thought I would list what I actually did read in the paper.

Front page: "Family has tragic Father's Day" A Husband and Father of two was killed in a farming accident Sunday. I think about the uncertainty of each day, about my Husband and how difficult it is to read about reality.

So I go on to "Plus-Size fashion that flatters" and learn that the average North American woman is size 14. Alright!

Then I read Dilbert, Zits, Adam, Between Friends, Tina's Groove, and Meaning of Life.

Yes I do read the papers and the current events. But since lately, I have been reading too many crimes, problems of the government and many other depressing articles, I've decided not to read the current events. I have too many things on my mind as it is than to add more by reading the papers.

I'm not much on depressing current events myself, which is why I'm such a blogaholic! :)

No, I don't - I use to read it and watch the news - all the time. Now, I'm informed by others or uninformed...

Terry Clark ( country singer ) has a song about praying for a slow news day. It always is bad news! Even the Stanley Cup. In my part of the country we wanted Edmonton Oilers to win the cup. Of course they did not. Boohoo. Good news for us in Canada, good news for the states.

Hi everyone,
I was writing a little tongue in cheek because I think that being aware of the realities of life are important but I admit to wanting to escaping from it at times too.

Wandi,
We were cheering for the Oilers in this part of Canada, too.

Love Tina's Groove. My local paper doesn't run Adam any more. It's usually the best part of the paper unless there's a Free Will Astrology.

Pearl,
I don't know why I read some of these comics, I'm not a waitress or a single
woman looking for a guy. When I was single though, I really liked Cathy and clipped a bunch of those cartoons.

I think good comics grab some universal neurosis so it doesn't matter where you work or whatever. My fav part of the paper, they are.

Alright, RDL! I am not alone.
